It all began when I combined three bushes…

Last year, there were physic-based games and this year we have combine-to-create-something-and-don’t-flood-the-board kind of games. Haven’t you heard about them? My love affair with these apps began when I discovered Triple Town. That is still one of the best games I’ve played and believe me, I’ve played a lot.
Triple Town is a simple but at the same time complex game in which the goal is to never let the board get flooded. You need to try to make the town grow by combining three elements. For example, three bushes make a bigger bush, those three bigger brushes make a three and so on. IN your way, you will find several obstacles that will hinder the process, such as bears that will move around freely or grey rocks that won’t do anything but get in the way.

Triple Town is incredibly addictive, I wanted to say it before you’re already hooked. I spent one month playing this game every day right before going to bed, it was my night ritual. It actually took me a while to figure it out -at first I didn’t know if there was a major objective in the game besides combining items-, but I kept playing anyway.
Later, I discovered BraveSmart, an equally enjoyable game with a similar approach, where you need to make the most of your available space by combining three items continuously in order to achieve the goal presented on top of the screen. Here, the controls work by sliding your finger over the three adjacent tiles you want to match, so it’s actually different from Triple Town, although the basic concept might be the same.

The last one on this brief entry is actually the last one I discovered, which is Puzzle Forge. Puzzle Forge is like an evolution of those two games, as it provides a much more complex gameplay. We also have the basic “combining to create other items” but, in the end, all you’re doing is crafting weapons for a greater good -or not-. This one requires more concentration and strategic thinking than the others, it’s not your typical casual game, it really makes you think! Besides, you won’t have time to get bored, as there are hundreds of quests to accomplish as you advance through the game.

You may already know them, or you might not. The truth is, these games have set a new trend and I can’t wait for them to become a major success, just like others were before. For those who are looking for something different, for those who enjoy being challenged and entertained at the same time. For those who are tired of shooting and exploding. For everyone.
