iCastellers, where local meets global
0Here at AndroidZoom we spend hours sniffing around the Androidverse. On the way, we find out surprising apps and meet developers from all over the world. Of course, the most popular apps use to be useful everywhere, but there are many other which have to be taken into account, too. Either because they are extremely useful or original, or because even when they come from a local developer they can be enjoyed anywhere else.
One example would be iCastellers. ‘Castellers‘ are human towers raised in Catalonia, the northeasternmost region of Spain. There, bullfighting is frowned on when not forbidden, Holy Passion processions are rare and flamenco dances are only performed to misled tourists to wheedle them a few euros, because it isn’t typical from there. Instead, they have their own antique tradition in the form of building those towers, which often are seven or more floors high and involve tens of people. Castellers not only are exciting to be seen, they are also picture Catalan values and moral, as they are raised by men and women, children and old together, where everyone has his or her role and failure or success is shared by all the members of the team. Injuries are rarer than it may seem, and results are pretty impressive, when not breath-taking. Have a look around Youtube (keyword: “castellers”, otherwise here‘s an example) and don’t forget to look up the castle’s schedule next time you take to trip to Barcelona and its surrounding area.
We reached Òscar Burgos, founder of Casolapps so we can put our hands on his iCastellers game, and we were so amazed that we felt the urge of sharing it with you. Design is splendid, gameplay is excellent and there are a lot of levels to play and more to come. We all know that there a few great companies who share the largest pieces of market cake, but you know we love when garage developers break the rule and burst into the charts. In addition, if their indie games are second to none in gameplay, we think they deserve a special mention.
Therefore, if you want to introduce yourself in the amazing world of castells and play one of the best games we’ve played year to date, here’s the link. There’s no need to know a thing about anything to enjoy it, just a little bit of wisdom and a lot of balance. We know it costs more than a free app, but that’s our job: recommend you which games are worth to be paid.
By the way, do you know any case of a local developer who has made a local app or game and you think he or she deserves global recognition? Tell him or her to reach us at hello at androidzoom dot com !
