Reviewing the list of categories available in the Market shortcomings are detected. Or at least, very specific groups of applications that could be shown together. Develop a way to display them all together will allow people to easily find them interested.

That’s why you’ll see that androidzoom.com has a number of categories that are only available here. We created 4 + 1 new categories.

If you are interested in personalizing your Android device, you’ll love the specific categories we’ve created! There are four new categories that bring together everything you need to personalize your device Android: Ringtones, Soundboards, Themes and Wallpapers.

Also, there is a new category “Adult” in the application listing. In this category are included all adult content applications detected. This allows you not find adult content while browsing categories such as “Entertainment” or “Social.” On the other hand, if you are really interested in adult content, you have all applications in one place.

It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality

In androidzoom we care about making the best tools when it comes to discovering new and interesting applications for your Android phone.

Did you heard about our application quality filter? We have not talked much about it, but has been available in the website for a couple of months. And many of you and you use it daily!

At the top of the main list of applications you’ll see a selector. It can choose the type of applications you want androidzoom to automatically filter for you. So no more time wasted reviewing lists full of applications without the slightest interest to you!

The filter offers four levels:

  1. “All applications“: At this level no application is hidden, all available to you.
  2. “All Applications Without adult and themes“: At this level you will see all applications, regardless of their rating or popularity, but hide the themes and adult content application (in another post we will talk about our special category for applications for adults, and some others).
  3. “Use a moderate filter“: Many applications that we find uninteresting are hidden, all bearing some time in the Market and do not receiving so much attention in terms of rating, reviews and/or downloads.
  4. “Show only the most popular applications“: Only the most popular applications will be included. The most popular means applications that have attracted the interest of users in terms of rating, downloads and positive comments.

Take in mind that the filters decide what application to show based on the interest aroused by the users, not the actual quality of the application.

Beta testers needed! Application syncronization between web and phone.

Now that you can create your favorite list of applications, we take a step further!

As you probably know, you can create as many lists as you want, based on your interests and preferences. You can also share them with your friends, or any fan of the Android platform, making them public. Some nice examples: here, here, here and here.

You also have a “system list” where favorited applications goes, the ones you marks with the star while discovering applications on androidzoom.com.

Now the news! Soon you will be able to save a list of applications you have installed on your phone, so you can have a backup on androidzoom.com. The system will maintain an updated list of applications installed on your phone and let you install the applications directly from the web. Web to phone synchronization automated!

This service works with an application installed on your terminal. This application is not yet in the Market,  first we want to ask you if you can test the application for a while, to detect a last minute malfunction or share some  feedback on how this functionality can be as helpful as possible for you.

If you want to help us out by testing the application, send us an email at hello@androidzoom.com. We will send you the .apk file for you to install it and will activate the functionality on the web for your registered user.

List it all!

Now you can create lists of your favorite applications in androidzoom.com!
Help others discover applications available on the Market that may not yet known. What applications are installed on your phone? What applications do you use and recommend for your little x10 or Tatoo terminal? What is your selection of applications, without which you could not live?
Take some time to sort some applications and share your wisdom with others eager to discover amazing hidden applications in the Market. Some already have, as Lorenzo. :-)

List’s example

To create your list just use the button “Add to list” you’ll find in each of the applications available on androidzoom.com. You can select which list you want to add the application, or you can create a new list to start adding all your favorite applications.
Your lists are available under “My Lists” option from the top menu bar. Clicking here will enter the list manager, from which you can decide to publicy publish your lists, so that all users can enjoy your choice of applications. We also provide some social tools so you can easily share your lists with your friends via email or social networks.

If you prefer, you can select which one of your lists (or all) becomes private. In this mode, only you can access them.

One last thing! We take care of your old list of favorite applications. Now it is a new list within your “My lists” option, with all your favorite applications conveniently migrated and at your disposal.

Starting engines…

Hello!

Since November 2009, androidzoom.com has been with you, helping you explore the confines of the Android Market. We started as a small directory of applications for Android, offering a more comfortable alternative to the Market application and offering alternatives to the known limitations of mobile terminals.

Since then we have advanced a lot, at least for us. We are two developers in love with the Android platform, nothing more; androidzoom.com is today much more than our highest aspiration the day it all started.
